EPISODE 2: John and the Tabernacle | 24 minutes

We’re stepping into the heart of John’s Gospel—where every detail points to something greater. The tabernacle wasn’t just an ancient tent of worship; it was God’s own design, a dwelling place for His people to draw near. John reveals that Jesus is the fulfillment of that plan—the perfect bridge between fallen man and God the Father. Could it be that John even shapes his Gospel around the very structure of the tabernacle itself? Join us as we uncover the rich connections between the Gospel of John and the tabernacle and see how it all leads us closer to Jesus, the true dwelling of God among us.

John 1:1–5 takes us back to the very beginning: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John makes it clear—the Word is Jesus. He was present at creation, eternal, and fully God. Not a lesser being, not someone who became divine later, but the light shining in the darkness and the Father of eternity. Join us as we explore how these verses lay the foundation for understanding who Jesus truly is.

In this episode, Michael Lane unpacks the powerful testimony of The Witness. As John introduces the Messiah—the eternal Word who came to dwell among us—he knows his bold claim requires evidence. Just as business was conducted in ancient cities in the gates before witnesses, John presents credible testimony to affirm that Jesus is indeed God in human form. Discover how John builds his case, what it means for us today, and why the identity of Jesus as both eternal and incarnate changes everything.

EPISODE 5: Christmas According to John – 1:14-18 | 22 Minutes

When most people think of Christmas, they picture a manger, shepherds, and a star. But John gives us a completely different view. He takes us behind the scenes—into eternity itself—to show us why Jesus came. “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.” The Word—Jesus—stepped out of heaven and into humanity to redeem us. But to take our place, He had to be sinless. He had to be God. Romans 6:23 reminds us, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

EPISODE 6: The Baptist’s Declaration – John 1:19-28 | 29 Minutes

In this episode, we look at John the Baptist’s bold testimony as he declares exactly who he is—and who he is not. The religious leaders were expecting a prophet like Moses, someone who would perform great miracles and deliver their people. But John makes it clear: he is not the Messiah. Instead, his mission is to prepare the way for the One who is. Join Michael Lane in the E4F Studio as he unpacks John’s declaration and the powerful truth it reveals about Jesus’ identity and purpose.

EPISODE 7: The Baptism of Jesus – John 1:29-34 | 17 minutes

In John 1:29–34, John the Baptist declares Jesus as the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” But why would the sinless Son of God step into the waters of baptism meant for repentance? In this episode, we uncover the deeper meaning behind Jesus’ baptism—how it marked the beginning of His ministry, revealed His divine identity, and demonstrated the perfect example of humility and obedience. Tune in to be encouraged and reminded that every act of Jesus carried eternal purpose—even this one.

EPISODE 8: Calling the First Disciples – John 1:35-42 | 23 Minutes

The call of the first disciples is the same call that reaches us today: to come, to see, and to follow. In John 1:35–42, John the Baptist points his own followers toward Jesus, declaring, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” With humility and obedience, he releases those closest to him so they can follow the One who truly saves. In this episode, we reflect on what it means to turn others—and even our own hearts—toward Jesus. As we respond to that call, may we be moved to lead others closer to Christ, the Lamb of God.

EPISODE 9: Calling More Disciples – John 1:43-46 | 23 Minutes

In this episode of The Gospel of John, we look at John 1:43–46 and see how quickly the good news about Jesus spreads. When Jesus calls Philip, he can’t keep the excitement to himself—he immediately goes to find Nathanael and share what he’s discovered. That’s the natural response when we truly encounter Christ: we want others to know Him too. Join us for this devotional reflection as we’re reminded that the call to follow Jesus is also a call to invite others to meet Him.

EPISODE 10: An Israelite Indeed – John 1:47-51 | 19 Minutes

In John 1:47–51, Jesus meets Nathanael and greets him with the surprising phrase, “An Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit.” What did Jesus mean by that? In this episode, we look at the background of this statement, why Nathanael’s honesty stood out, and how Jesus’ comment reveals His divine insight. As we walk through the passage, we’ll see how this moment helps set the stage for Nathanael’s faith and Jesus’ promise that even greater things are ahead. EPISODE 12: The New Temple – John 2:12-14 | 28 Minutes

In this episode, we focus on John 2:12–14 and take a close look at what the temple had become. A place meant for prayer, worship, and meeting with God had been overtaken by noise and business. Merchants filled the courtyards with animals, money changers set up tables to profit off travelers, and the holy atmosphere was drowned out by bargaining and exploitation. The temple—God’s dwelling place among His people—had turned into a marketplace, far from the reverence it was intended to hold.

EPISODE 13: Cleaning House – John 2:13-17 | 20 minutes

In this episode of The Gospel of John, we turn to John 2:13–17 and watch a striking moment unfold as Jesus steps into the temple during Passover. Instead of finding a place centered on devotion, He confronts a scene that dishonors God’s holiness. With purpose and passion, He drives out the distractions that had taken over and calls God’s house back to what it was meant to be. As we reflect on this passage, we’re invited to consider the zeal Jesus has for true worship and the areas of our own lives that need to be aligned with His heart.

What does it mean to truly believe? In this episode, we explore John 2:18–25 (ESV), where religious leaders demand a sign from Jesus—and He points them to something far greater than they expect. In John 4:19–24, Jesus reveals what it means to worship the Father in spirit and in truth, calling us into a deeper, more authentic relationship with Him. This episode explores how worship is not confined to a place, but is a posture of the soul, shaped by sincerity and grounded in truth, inviting us to encounter God in a way that transforms us from the inside out.
