Did God create the universe? What Scripture Says…
The famous Noble laureate Dr. Francis Crick, atheist and one of the discoverers of the structure of DNA, wrote in his book Life Itself the following comment:

“An honest man, armed with all of the knowledge available to us now, could only state that in some sense, the origin of life appears at the moment to be almost a miracle, so many are the conditions which would have to have been satisfied to get it going.”
Scientifically speaking, Crick is correct. It was a miracle. As Pasteur stated that life cannot sprout from non-living chemicals, that it had to have come from a living being of whom Pasteur believes was God, life is the result of a miracle of a Master Designer.
So how did life and matter form on this unique planet? The Master Designer told us how it began in His Word.
Genesis 1:1 (ESV)
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Exodus 20:11 (ESV)
For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them…
Exodus 31:17 (ESV)
in six days the Lord made heaven and earth…
Job 12:7-9 (ESV)
But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?
Psalms 33:6,9 (ESV)
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made…
For he spoke, and it came to be;
Psalms 104:24-25 (ESV)
O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. 25Here is the sea, great and wide, which teems with creatures innumerable, living things
both small and great.

Isaiah 37:16 (ESV)
“O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, you are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth.
Isaiah 42:5 (ESV)
Thus says God, the Lord, who created the heavens
Isaiah 45:12 (ESV)
I made the earth and created man on it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their host.
Isaiah 45:18 (ESV)
For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens (he is God!), who formed the earth and made it (he established it; he did not create it empty, he formed it to be inhabited!): “I am the Lord, and there is no other.
Mark 10:6 (ESV)
But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.
Mark 13:19 (ESV)
from the beginning of the creation that God created until now
John 1:1-3 (ESV)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Colossians 1:16 (ESV)
For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
Hebrews 1:2 (ESV)
he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.

God is the Master Designer, the Intelligent Creator of everything, but is there any evidence that God actually created the universe and all life forms?
Is there evidence for God? What Are the Odds?
God is the Master Designer, the Intelligent Creator of everything, but is there any evidence that God actually created the universe and all life forms?
Isn’t there a great possibility that He just set things into motion and let nature dictate the changes?
This is the case of theistic evolution. This thereby makes God, a real person, but a detached by-stander and not the actual creator. Many people believe this. That God just created a bunch of stuff and let it run its own course by random chance?
Is this the miracle that Francis Crick cited?
First of all, let’s examine the probability of random chance making the first enzyme for a living thing.

Enzymes are proteins that speed up and perform chemical reactions in cells. Right now, in one living cell, there are tens of thousands of enzymatic reactions occurring to keep that cell alive. Since enzymes are protein, they are composed of thousands of the essential 20 amino acids in long folded chains. The correct order is critical for that enzyme to function properly.
Mathematicians have studied the odds of random chance making just one simple enzyme at something like 1:10^125. A single bacterial cell needs a minimum of 2,000 different enzymes just to barely live, the odds of that happening by random chance are astronomical.

In their book Evolution from Space, Dr. Fred Hoyle and Dr. Chandra Wickramasing stated that the odds of two enzymes being formed by random chance in a single bacterial cell is 1:10^20×2000 or 1:10^40,000!

Bottom: Probability of a bacterial cell forming from random chance
In the 1990’s mathematicians and physicists determined what is mathematically impossible. They have concluded that the odds of anything happening beyond 1:10^50 is scientifically impossible. Thus, scientifically speaking, it is impossible for life to have formed from random chance.
Is there evidence of intelligent design? The Language of DNA
DNA is the machine that contains all of the information necessary to make the enzymes, proteins, hormones, etc. in all living beings. Their order in a DNA molecule is so exact and perfect that it has been estimated that a single human strand of DNA contains information equivalent to 1.5G bytes. That is more information than can be stored on 2 CDs. What are the odds of that happening by random chance?
Jay Roth, former professor of cell and molecular biology at the University of Connecticut and an expert in DNA, wrote in The Piling of Coincidence on the origin of DNA that, “It appears it is reasonable at present to suggest that possibility of a creator.”
Bill Gates, Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist said, “Human DNA is like a computer program but far, far more advanced than any we’ve ever created.”
How DNA works, the processes of replication, transcription, translation, and protein synthesis could develop on its own by random chance is against all probability and possibility.
The SETI project, the search for intelligent life in the universe, is based upon the premise that if a digital language can be found in outer space it would indicate life. A digital language is found in the natural universe – DNA. Doesn’t this indicate that there is a Creator God?
Before leaving this lesson let’s return to the topic of enzymes, coded off of the DNA molecule. In your living cells, scientists estimate that there are about 10,000 enzymatic reactions occurring every second to keep that cell alive. The enzymes must be present for these reactions to occur. Most of these enzymatic reactions work like long lines of dominoes; one reaction triggers another reaction and so forth. Most of these reactions change the product to a new form that a new enzyme will react with.
Scientists have been able to map some of these enzymatic pathways needed to keep a cell alive on what is commonly referred to as the Metabolic Pathways Chart.

As one ingests a molecule of a substance like table sugar, it shows the flowchart of dozens of changes that molecules will go through to produce ATP, the energy to run the cell. Enzymes are required for all these changes. But if one enzyme is not present or not in working form, the system shuts down and the cell could die. Likewise, when you eat a piece of steak, the proteins in that steak are going to be broken down into amino acids to make new proteins in your body and new enzymes and hormones to run it. But if one of the required enzymes is not functioning properly or is absent, the system can shut down and death can occur.
Look at this chart. If the odds of making just one small enzyme by random chance is 1:10^125, what are the chances of all these necessary enzymes being formed by random chance to run one cell? The odds of this are impossible! Logic shouts the existence of a Creator God.
Dr. Wernher von Braun, one of the most brilliant scientists of the 20th century wrote in a letter to California State board of Education on 14 Sep 1972: “For me, the idea of a creation is not conceivable without invoking the necessity of design. One cannot be exposed to the law and order of the universe without concluding that there must be design and purpose behind it all.”
Scripture states this:
Romans 1:19-20 (ESV)
For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

And look at what Dr. Robin Collins wrote concerning passage and topic:
“Romans 1:20 tells us that God’s eternal power and divine nature can be seen and understood through the things that are made, and that this is the reason humanity is without excuse. I see physics as uncovering the evidence of God’s fingerprint at a deeper and more subtle level than the ancients could have dreamed of. He has used physics to enable me to see the evidence of his presence and creative ability. The heavens really do declare the glory of God, even more so for someone trained with physics and with eyes to see.”
